Past Exhibitions > The Fragility of Home Work of Lorna Filippini

I began drawing nests a few years ago when my feelings of home were compromised. Finding an intact fallen nest in my yard helped me to realize that fragile was not broken…it gave me strength.

These days one cannot read a paper, listen to or watch the news without feeling that the concept of home as a safe haven, a place of belonging and renewal is threatened. War, politics, hatred, violence, climate, illness and addiction assault our peace and security.

I have drawn these nests as a meditation on hope and resilience.
